ALMOST Springtime

We've been having a lot of fun here in the studio lately with a new project we've been working on called iStockSecrets.com. Both Steve and I have been licensing our photography for a few years with istockphoto.com and it's been ok, nothing to brag about at all, but we've decided to step up our game. Every week, Steve's been setting up the studio and shooting some really fun portraiture. We've also been contacting our past wedding clients too, so if you'd be so considerate to let us use your wedding pix in our portfolios, we'd love to get you some free 8x10 prints! Ah, The Gorge

Portland is seriously a great place to be a photographer, the climate, people and amazing locations within an hour or so of here still amaze me after 6 years of clicking wedding photos. We were super lucky a couple weeks ago when Darren & Becky got married out in Hood River County. An outdoor wedding on a pear orchard in July, sounds as perfect as it was. A great day, with great people, here's a couple of my favorite shots from the day.

April & Bryan

Our first wedding of 2010 was the super radical, super fun event of April & Bryan. We started out at the Hotel Modera a recently revamped hotel in downtown Portland with an absolutely killer contemporary art collection which made for some sweet photos. We were lucky enough to work with Nicole Wagner one of the best makeup artists in the Portland and someone we are fortunate to work with several times a year.

The reception was held in the Portland Art Museum's event space, which features some stellar sculptures, and a pretty awesome interior to work with. We were again, fortunate to work with one of the best catering services in the Northwest, Vibrant Table So, 2 of my favorite vendors in one day, coupled with a totally awesome new couple, radical modern and classical art all around, a solid way to walk into 2010. A New Year and New Wedding Photos!

Happy New Year everyone! Justin here at SJ Harmon, where we were lucky enough to ring in the new year with some newlyweds at some beautiful locations here in Oregon. Sasha & John had an early afternoon wedding at the Portland Mormon Temple and while risking life and lens to the rain, we were able to get some super shots of the couple and the architecture at the temple.

From there, we headed south on I-5 and then west over to Zenith Vineyard, a beautiful Willamette Valley winery with an interior as amazing as the surrounding hills. This place is spot on, and has one of the nicest bridal preparation rooms in the area. Catering was taken care of by Vibrant Table and, as always, was spectacular and highly recommended. All and all, it was a beautiful day and truly a fun shoot. Check out some photos and keep on checking back!

Shields Films/Honeysuckle Photography Open House 2009

Thanks to everyone at the Shields Films and Honeysuckle Photography for hosting a super radical open house this past weekend. PDX Photo Lounge was there taking awesome snapshots like the one above, and they are always a hit at weddings. Cocktails and goofy photos aside, it was really cool re-connecting with old friends and meeting new folks like the coordinators at Champagne NW and photographers from Mosca Photo. Engaged? Planning? Let us help!

Hello everyone! Spring seems to almost be in full swing, and for any of you newly engaged folks out there, this is a great time to begin your wedding planning. We've had a chance to get out and shoot some couples lately, which has been welcomed after our dreary, cold past couple months. We've also added a new feature with our engagement shots, offering custom Save the Date postcards with an image of your choice. It's a really easy way to get things moving in the planning stages of your wedding.
