Howdy everyone, I've been adding new photos to our SJ Harmon Facebook page every day this week! ALMOST Springtime

We've been having a lot of fun here in the studio lately with a new project we've been working on called iStockSecrets.com. Both Steve and I have been licensing our photography for a few years with istockphoto.com and it's been ok, nothing to brag about at all, but we've decided to step up our game. Every week, Steve's been setting up the studio and shooting some really fun portraiture. We've also been contacting our past wedding clients too, so if you'd be so considerate to let us use your wedding pix in our portfolios, we'd love to get you some free 8x10 prints! Here’s some awesome shots from Brian & Shannon’s wedding! Shot first at the Nines in downtown, with a reception on a private Oregon ranch, I think in Polk County, this wedding was nothing more than stunning. A great couple to work with, with a great family from around the world. They made an awesome call by having a mobile Batista at their wedding! Nothing like a nice iced Americano on a hot day, good call guys!

A New Year and New Wedding Photos!

Happy New Year everyone! Justin here at SJ Harmon, where we were lucky enough to ring in the new year with some newlyweds at some beautiful locations here in Oregon. Sasha & John had an early afternoon wedding at the Portland Mormon Temple and while risking life and lens to the rain, we were able to get some super shots of the couple and the architecture at the temple.

From there, we headed south on I-5 and then west over to Zenith Vineyard, a beautiful Willamette Valley winery with an interior as amazing as the surrounding hills. This place is spot on, and has one of the nicest bridal preparation rooms in the area. Catering was taken care of by Vibrant Table and, as always, was spectacular and highly recommended. All and all, it was a beautiful day and truly a fun shoot. Check out some photos and keep on checking back!

Michael & Caitlin

Hello everyone! Justin here at SJ Harmon Photography. We've had a really busy month this past May, and with full hard drives and tired fingers, we've got quite a bit to show. Michael & Caitlin had a really nice wedding over at the Old Laurelhurst Church in N.E. Portland. It was a beautiful day, and we were able to get shots down in the park and the beautiful surrounding neighborhood. We've also been shooting new ad's for Multnomah University, maybe you've seen some of our work on the TriMet busses? (Ok, now I'm just bragging.) Gearing Up For Spring

After a lovely weekend at The Gray Gables Estate, we were fortunate enough to meet up with some great people in the business. The staff at Gray Gables really put on a show for their brides and grooms to be, with an impeccably decorated ballroom, impressive and delicious buffet and a wide selection of wines, (including Willamette Valley 2007 Pinot Noir) and a host of vendors offering top notch services. Our buddy and favorite wedding DJ Anthony Wedin of A Sound Choice Entertainment played a classy mix of contemporary, pop and oldies, in a very non-cheesy wedding DJ way. Lucky for Steve, we were seated next to the Beaverton Bakery table where they were dolling out samples of their radical wedding cakes. These guys are definately worth a look if you are in the cake market any time soon, their cake speaks for itself. Flowers For You was also there with some fresh and all out beautiful examples of their work. If you're looking for a bouquet or flower arrangement that is super classy and contemporary, give them a look. It was great to meet lots of cool new people and reaquaint with familiar faces.

Our new space keeps evolving and you are always invited to come check out our new slideshows, album offerings and products that we've introduced for 2009. We've still got some dates available for this coming summer, so don't hesitate to give myself or Steve a call or email.

New Blog and Website In The Works

Welcome to the redesigned blog for SJ Harmon Photography We've added more information, connections to some of our favorite people in the wedding world and more photography. Our new studio is transitioning well and we're taking bookings for family portraits in studio as well as wedding consultations in our brand new meeting space. Now is a great time to schedule a family portrait with the holidays right around the corner.

We recently photographed Mike & Sally's wedding in Portland's Acadian Ballroom on Northeast Alberta Street. The venue is one of our favorites and the surrounding neighborhood has nearly limitless photographic opportunities. It helped that Mike was a Firefighter and brought his engine and fire crew along as photo props!

We've Moved

Hello! After a long and interesting stay at the Portland Storage Suites, we've finally moved! We're now located in the Graham Street Lofts in NE Portland. We've made a brand new meeting space for our clients as well as installing a full fledged photo studio! With a still relatively open calender for the 2009 summer, we'd love to invite you over to check out the new space and some of our new portfolio work from the 2008 year!

Megan & Peter

Lately, I've been working on the album design from Peter and Megan's 2007 Summer wedding at the Old Laurelhurst Church on S.E. 32nd and Ankeny in Portland. I always forget how beautiful the venue is, inside and out and it's always a treat to shoot at. With it's Spanish architecture, great gardens and proximity to Laurelhurst park, it truly lends itself to some beautiful photography. Unlike many other churches, the Laurelhurst has a full reception hall in the basement!

Also, we're planning a move in the near future and we'll keep you posted on our exciting new location!

Fall Time, Wine Country

My fiancee and I just drove out to the David Hill Winery to drop off a new SJ Harmon Sample album and to pick up a case of the Farmhouse Red, pretty much our favorite wine ever.
David Hill, out in Forest Grove is an amazing area, with the dramatic tiered landscape of the Western Coastal Range and the beauty of acres of rolling grape vines, it's hard to resist. Here's a wedding from last summer out there on the vineyard which continues to be one of our favorites. Have a look!

New Photos, Busy Weekends

Another wedding packed weekend has just come to a close, with Steve, Robbie and myself all adding mileage to our cameras. I'll be attending a Bravo wedding event this week at the scenic Kah Nee Tah Lodge this Wednesday with my fiancee to meet some new and exciting vendors, caterers, videographers and event coordinators who like us, advertise and work with Bravo.

New Albums, Fun Photos, Etc.

We've been getting cracking on some new albums lately, and it's always nice looking through weddings from the past and getting new ideas. 2 Weddings, Sara & Angelo's 2007 wedding and Zack & Colleen's Reception from last month were great weddings, both had receptions at the Arista Ballroom on S.E. 39th & Hawthorne in Portland, Oregon. It's a great event space with tall ceilings, a great balcony, a really nice view of the Hawthorne strip and great staff. If you're looking for a venue for your reception, we highly recommend it.
We've still got a couple dates open for this Summer and Fall, so if you'd like to set up a consultation, please don't hesitate to drop me an Email and we'll get you on the calender. We've also got a blank slate for the 2009 summer and fall, so again, let us know if you'd like to talk about your wedding!

Raoul & Melissa

While looking for new shots for a promotional album, I came across Robbie's 2007 wedding of Raoul & Melissa. They were a great couple with a great summer outdoor wedding at Oregon City's Ainsworth House. The venue is a great one, which all of us here have shot at several times over the past years. Pastor Kevin Yell is a great guy with a great sense of interior and exterior design which really makes this vintage farmhouse shine.

We'll be getting some new albums out there soon, so if you have the chance to swing by the Ainsworth House, keep an eye out for our new book.
